What is CHAS?
CHAS stands for the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme. This serves as a trusted online assessment regarding health and safety compliance, among other areas of risk assessment and risk management. Additionally, the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme accreditation helps businesses with their health and safety competence through quality health and safety support. For a multitude of industries, being CHAS accredited has been the most popular assessment scheme, as it demonstrates to potential clients that you meet the necessary health and safety standards.
Being CHAS accredited will save you time and money during the application process when applying for work. The reason for this is that it enables you to bypass any questions you will find on pre-qualification tender forms (pre-qualification questionnaires).
In today’s climate, you find that most large organisations and local authorities expect you to have a CHAS certificate in place to employ you or your business as a contractor.
Regarding the CHAS accreditation, you have three accreditation levels to choose from:
1. CHAS Standard (Health & Safety Only)
2. CHAS Advanced (PAS 91)
3. CHAS Elite (Common CHAS Assessment Standard)
The level you choose is often dictated by your client or what you feel is the best fit for your business. For instance, the application is great for those within the construction industry, as it can help you win contracts that you were previously struggling to obtain.
At Beaconrisk, we provide affordable help and support to ensure you are CHAS accredited as soon as possible. In addition to assistance with this accreditation, we also assist with other accreditation possibilities, such as SafeContractor and Constructionline.
